Pancake Day
It’s pancake day! Or Shrove Tuesday as it should be more properly known.
Homes all over the UK will be full of people making and eating pancakes for supper tonight.
Isn’t it strange how some old traditions stick. As a child I was always told that this is how people used up things before Lent, but despite the fact that few people that I know give up things for Lent, just about everyone I know makes pancakes today.
Sugar and lemon is the tradition for pancakes in our house, but jam, chocolate spread, bananas or honey would also get the thumbs-up.
Basically anything wicked, calorific or squishy.
Did you have pancakes tonight?

In answer to your question, Les,…..no, but I shall have to turn my mind to it – I remember as a child having sugar and vinegar pancakes! G thought that sounded awful!!!!
Sugar and vinegar? I agree – bleugghh!
No I did not. I had pizza. That’s a great tradition to follow. Glad you’re still in step. So, Shrove Tuesday is the UK’s version of Mardi Gras? After all, pancakes seem like pretty hardy food to consume on Fat Tuesday.
Yup, it’s Fat Tuesday, the very same. Pizza sounds like an excellent adaptation!
You beat me to the post! I made crêpes today and they were delicious:0)
