Bayonne ham, melon and sun
Lunch is going to be an incredibly lazy affair today with absolutely zero cooking.
As it’s hot and sunny we will be eating under the shade of the parasol on the front terrace with a glass or two of chilled rose, a plate of freshly cut local melon de Lectoure and slices of cold charcuterie.
The salty local Bayonne ham, sliced razor thin, goes really well with the lush, intense sweetness of the melon, so this speciality child of the Seventies has become a bit of a classic and will be popped into my Retro Chic Classics collection forthwith, if not sooner.
