River Cafe rocks!
The River Cafe in London is still one of the best restaurants around, and despite having read all the cookbooks and being aware of it for absolutely years I had never been there. This week changed all that and I was lucky enough to eat there with work colleagues one evening.
It’s simple, fresh, fantastic Italian inspired cooking served up in classy contemporary surroundings on the banks of the River Thames in Hammersmith.
Apart from the great, fresh seasonal food, the fish (I had Dover sole) was superb. And the San Danielle ham with fresh figs was delicious.
To top it all, celebrity-spotting little me spied Miriam Margoyles and Gary Oldman at adjacent tables on the terrace outside! It wasn’t considered good form to shriek (I did it quietly) or take photos (threatened with the sack if I let the side down ) and so a stock photo from their website will just have to do.
River Cafe, you still rock!
